Ideal Indian School organized an Orientation Programme on “Hacking the Cortisol: Turning Exam Terror into Biological Fuel” for Grade 12 students at the KG Auditorium. The session aimed to create awareness about stress, equip students with practical coping strategies, and foster positive attitudes toward the upcoming examinations.
The programme commenced with a prayer by Mohammed Masood (Class 12-B), followed by a warm welcome by Ayra Rifard (Class 12-J). Addressing the students, the Acting Principal, Mr. Mohammad Azam Khan, delivered the inaugural speech, emphasizing the critical importance of mental well-being and stress management during crucial academic milestones. The topic and the guest speaker, Mrs. Sajeda Tanveer Ahmed Ansari, were then introduced by Ranita Reagan (Class 12-J).
During the highly informative session, the guest speaker focused on understanding stress, cortisol, and practical techniques for managing academic pressure effectively. She introduced the concept of self-assessment through regular journaling and explained a structured, question-based problem-solving approach. Explaining the science behind cortisol—the stress hormone—she highlighted how appropriate levels can actually improve alertness and focus. She further elaborated on the body’s natural “Fight, Flight, and Freeze” modes, using real-life examples from the audience to demonstrate how these reactions influence student decision-making. Drawing a unique comparison to wildlife, she taught practical techniques to handle overstimulation, including controlled breathing exercises and physical movement methods to release body tension.
The interactive session witnessed active participation, with students sharing personal concerns from the stage and their seats. As a token of appreciation for the valuable tools shared, the guest speaker was presented with a school memento.
The programme was attended by Dr. Nazima Bi Shaikh (Vice Principal GS), Ms. Khadija T C (Headmistress GS), Ms. Lipsy Sabu (Assistant Headmistress, BS), and Mr. Anwar Sadath (Acting Assistant Headmaster, BS). The event was organized and coordinated by Dr. Nazima Bi Shaikh, Vice Principal, Girls’ Section, and teacher incharge Ms. Thamanna.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Yousef Abbas (Class 12-B). The session resolved with a renewed commitment to equipping students with clarity, confidence, and the emotional resilience needed for holistic development and academic success.
