Vision

To help pupils discover the leadership potentials and communication abilities already existing in them and transform them into great leaders of tomorrow.

Mission

To facilitate an environment suitable for enabling the students to participate individually and in group, and to train themselves for becoming effective communicators and leaders.

OBJECTIVES

Gavel Club is the Toastmasters Club for people below the age of 18. The Toastmasters International (TMI) is a worldwide organisation for leadership and communication training.

Gavel clubs are a way of providing the Toastmasters experience to students who may be ineligible for regular Toastmasters membership due to age factor. Following the similar club meeting protocols of Toastmasters, Gavel clubs use club officer titles and education manuals as in TMI. Gavel club members are referred to as “gaveliers.”

The purpose of Gavel Club’s activity in IIS is to inspire and support students to achieve excellence in speaking. The students receive training in a variety of areas, including table topics, humorous speaking, project speech, and evaluation, Students take a keen interest in attending GAVEL CLUB on specified dates, delivering speeches and Evaluating as well. This practice has enabled them to overcome stage fright and shyness and in turn boosted their confidence level and to speak spontaneously to any sort of audience.

AIMS
The Junior Section of Ideal Indian School proudly inaugurated the ‘ECO KIDS’ CLUB under the theme ‘GREEN QATAR IS OUR FUTURE.’ Recognizing that to plant a garden today is to invest in tomorrow, the club’s motto echoed, “He who plants a tree, plants hope. The inaugural ceremony commenced with a recitation of verses from the Holy Quran by Ammar Md. Irshadullah of class 4. Maysa Ahmed, also from class 4, extended a warm welcome to all attendees.
Mr. Shaik Shamim Saheb, the principal, ceremoniously inaugurated the event by cutting the ribbon, symbolizing a new chapter in environmental care and guardianship. Following this, saplings were planted and watered. The principal imparted invaluable advice to the students, emphasizing the importance of maintaining the plants to safeguard our environment. The primary objective of planting saplings was to instill environmental consciousness among students, emphasizing the critical role trees play in mitigating climate change and fostering sustainable practices. Led by the principal, all present pledged their commitment to environmental responsibility.
The Junior Section choir students added a melodious touch to the occasion with their captivating song. The event was hosted by Ms. Sharon Metilda. Principal Mr. Shaik Shamim Saheb, Headmaster Mr. Sajid Shamim, and AHM Ms. Shyla Jose, Students and teachers enthusiastically joined in planting saplings, marking a collective effort towards a greener future. The program was concluded with a vote of thanks by Jhanvi Jawahar of class 4.

IIS GAVEL CLUB HOLDS COMPETITION:

The Gavel Club at Ideal Indian School aims to inspire and support students in achieving excellence in public speaking. With regular training in table topics, humorous speeches, project speeches, and evaluations, students have been able to overcome stage fright, build confidence, and develop the ability to speak spontaneously before any audience.
As part of this initiative, the Ideal Gavel Club Competitions were held on 10th September 2025 with 47 enthusiastic participants competing in Table Topics, Tall Tales, Inspirational Speech, and Evaluation. The event was evaluated by an esteemed panel of judges including Ms. Seema (Qatar Mothers Toastmasters), Chief Judge Ms. Revathy (Vice President Membership, Kirinchy Toastmasters Club), Ms. Lipsy Sabu, and Mr. Anwar Sadath. Participants were judged on content, delivery, body language, and overall presentation. Winners were announced by Mr. Sajid Shamim, Headmaster (Junior Section), while Principal Mr. Shaik Shamim Saheb presented the prizes and congratulated the achievers.
The event was graced by the presence of Ms. Richa Sachdeva (Coordinator, Gavel Club Division E), Dr. Nazima Bi Shaikh (Vice Principal, Girls’ Section), and Mr. Azam Khan (Vice Principal, Boys’ Section), who appreciated the efforts of the students and encouraged them to continue their journey of excellence. The competition concluded with the announcement of winners in each category, leaving the audience inspired by the energetic and passionate performances of all participants.
In the Tall Tales category, Joyal secured the first place, followed by Samridhi Panwar in second place and Ahmed Jasim in third place. In the Inspirational Speech category, Muhammed Mustafa Shafeth won first place, Afrin Salma stood second, and Leyasri came third. For the Evaluation category, Leyasri achieved first place, Shriya Patil secured second place, and Grace took third place. In the Table Topics category, Venika Anil claimed the first position, Fathima Khiri came second, and Abdur Rahmaan Momin secured third place.
