Shakespeare Day at Ideal Indian School was celebrated with great enthusiasm and literary spirit on 28 April 2026 at the KG Auditorium. The event honoured the legacy of William Shakespeare and aimed to deepen students’ appreciation of classical literature while nurturing their creativity and performance skills.
The formal programme commenced with a warm welcome address delivered by Sonakshi Harish of XI-H (Morning Session) and Khadeeja Rukshan of IX-G (Evening Session), both highlighted Shakespeare’s enduring influence on global literature and language.
The ceremony was graced by the presence of the Acting Principal, Mr. Mohammed Azam Khan, along with the Heads of Sections and Mr. Anwar Sadath, Head of the Department of English. During the event, badges were conferred upon the newly appointed office bearers of the English Literary Club-Voice Out 2026-2027. From the Boys’ Section, Shan Shoukath (XI A) and Haya Illyas ( XI B) were appointed as Secretary and Abhinav (IX A) and Hamdan Muzawar ( IX B ) were appointed as Joint Secretary for both Morning and Evening Session respectively. Representing the Girls’ Section, Sonakshi Harish (XI H) and by Jewairya Ather (X G ) were appointed as Secretary and Suhair Mohammadi (IX G) and Khadeeja Muhammed Rukshan ( IX G) were appointed as Joint Secretary for both Morning and Evening Session respectively. Mr. Asaf Ali and Ms. Premalatta Selwyn (Morning Session) and Ms. Akhitha and Ms. Sameera Ghouse (Evening Session) have been designated as the coordinators, tasked with guiding and overseeing the activities of the Club.
In his presidential address, the Acting Principal, Mr. Mohammed Azam Khan, expressed his appreciation for the Department of English, under whose banner the programme was organized.
The programme continued with a poem recitation by Elfi Firoze of VII F and a motivational speech by Akhil Senthil Kumar of XI A (for Morning Session) and Juwairya Ather of X G and Rajaeswari of XII A (for Evening Session). This was followed by the presentation of the Annual Report of the English Literary Club for the academic year 2025–2026, delivered by Rehana Begum, highlighting the club’s notable achievements. Shan Shoukath of XI B (Morning) and Farook PS of XII B (Evening) then proposed the vote of thanks.
The celebration continued with the much-anticipated Inter-House Dramatic Monologue Competition, where talented performers brought iconic characters from Shakespeare’s plays to life. A total of 16 participants competed across the morning and evening sessions, with each house represented by two participants.
In the Morning Session, Neeraj Geevandas Jogi (Blue) secured first place in the Boys’ Section, followed by Mohammed Shan Shoukath (Green) and Hujaifa Khan (Blue). In the Girls’ Section, Aashika Menon (Blue) secured first place, followed by Palakshi Sharma (Yellow) and Joyal Ishwani (Green). In the Evening Session, Thamanna Abram (Red) secured first place in the Boys’ Section, followed by Ajmal Roshan (Yellow) and Anishwar (Yellow). In the Girls’ Section, Khulood Bint Mohammed (Yellow) secured first place, followed by Anvia Lenin (Yellow) and Lujain Manha (Red).
The formal programe was compered by Ms.Bindu Babu (Morning) and Ms.Darsana S.Dharan for Evening Session. The second half of the programme was hosted by Ahmed Jassim (XI A) and Juwairiya (XI H) for the Morning Session, and Saja Siraj (XII A) and Nivedita Binosh (XII A) for the Evening Session.
The performances were judged by Ms. Jerrin Elsa Abraham and Ms. Aryalaxmi from the Junior Section for the morning session, and by Ms. Uma Maheswari and Ms. Swetha Suresh for the evening session. The overall event was meticulously coordinated by Mr.Shijo Joseph (Morning) and Mr. Ramkumar (Evening).
